These sound pieces all originate from hydrophonic mono recordings, carried out during summer 2009 in the waters of a moat of a castle in the west of France. During these recording sessions, I came to realise that some of the sounds generated there (Cables & Signs 1, 5 et 10) were modulated by variations in the intensity of the sun on the surface of the water. Even though I was not able to accurately identify the species emitting them, I now know they were produced by insects and aquatic plants.Fascinated by their relation to the external environment, by the concentration of these phenomena on the site and by some of the effects they produce on the ear, I selected fifty minutes out of the five hours of material gathered on location. Naturally composed and modulated by the environment, these ten excerpts result from a careful and subjective listening process and now exist through this format as musical pieces. Apart from a slight equalisation, none of these works were electronically altered or edited.

Toutes ces pièces sont issues d'enregistrements hydrophoniques monos, réalisées dans les eaux des douves d'un château de l'ouest de la France, durant l'été 2009. Au cours de ces sessions d'enregistrement, j'ai pu observer que quelques-uns des sons produits (Cables & Signs 1, 5 et 10) étaient modulés par les variations d'intensité du soleil à la surface de l'eau. Bien que je ne puisse identifier précisément les espèces qui les produisent, je sais maintenant qu'il s'agit d'insectes et de plantes aquatiques.Fasciné par leur relation avec l'environnement extérieur, par la concentration de ces phénomènes sur le site et par certains effets qu'ils produisent sur l'oreille, j'ai sélectionné cinquante minutes des cinq heures de matière collectées sur place. Composées et modulées naturellement par l'environnement, ces dix extraits sont le résultat d'une écoute attentive et subjective et existent désormais sur ce support comme des pièces de musique. Aucune d'entre elles n'a subit de montage ni de transformation électronique, excepté une légère équalisation.
